Top Ten Things Babes Love Baseball is Thankful for in 2011

We're thankful for so many things. Baseball, beer, and shoes being the three most important, obviously. Oh, and family of course... but there are so many baseball-related things to be grateful for that we felt the need to compile a list and share it with all of you. No, Joe Mauer is not one of them. He's disappointed us to no end this season and really, we'd rather not talk about it. Wouldn't want him to land on the DL with hurt feelings.

10. A nice hot stove. Although Marea's favorite NFL team sucks ass this season, Sooze's is doing quite well. The best actually. But there have been other MLB offseasons in which football has not gotten us through the winter. Not even close. And it's because of the NFL's blatant disregard for happiness that we are incredibly thankful for MLB Network. Best. Channel. Ever.

9. The Dugout: The Official Chatroom of Major League Baseball. If you haven't read one of these little gems, you are totally missing out. In fact, we're disgusted with you. Just click the link.

8. Players like C.J. Wilson. Without guys like him to make fun of, this blog would be boring as hell and we probably would've given up a long time ago. Thanks, buddy.

7. The Youtubes. Thank you to all you nerds out there who tirelessly post videos of protected content that you know MLB will be taking down in just a matter of time. We enjoy them while we can.

Bud Norris Calls Out Brian Wilson for Stupid Taco Bell Commercial

Houston Astros pitcher Bud Norris, who has reason enough to dislike Brian Wilson's antics (his team sucks and Wilson pitches for an NL rival who totally won the World Series last season) has called out the San Francisco Giants closer on Twitter.

Norris made it clear in English and Spanish that he has nothing against B-Weezy or whatever he calls himself these days, but that his commercials pretty much suck. We tend to agree wholeheartedly. Maybe he can call out Joe Mauer next... he can choose from ads such as Head & Shoulders, Gatorade, Pepsi, Kemps, and of course, Sony Playstion.

Voodoo Sabermetrics: Brian Wilson

Who do the Voodoo
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our 14th Edition of VooDoo Sabermetrics. We know, it's been way too long. Obscenely long. We promise we won't wait another year before you get to voodoo. At any rate, this week's subject is bearded San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson. It is no one's fault but his own that this post will be riddled with Youtube videos. Enjoy.

Sooze, Babes Love Baseball and Star Tribune...

Jolliness
- Brian Wilson's jolliness knows no bounds. Even on a 3-2 count with the bases juiced he has a smirk on his face. Well, what's left of his face under that monstrous merkin he refers to as his epic beard. Apparently there's a maypole and sexy elves inside of it. And ninjas. No, you're not allowed to touch it. There's too much magic inside.

Wilson gets a giant tripping unicorn wielding two machine guns on the Jollity Scale.

Way to Go San Francisco Giants!

With a 3-1 Game 5 victory, the San Francisco Giants have brought the very first World Series title to the Bay Area, 56 years after the organization won it all in 1954 when they still called New York their home.

Facing the once-invincible and indestructible Cliff Lee, Edgar Renteria drove a 2-0 cut fastball over the left-center field fence to score Cody Ross and Juan Uribe, hushing the sellout crowd at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. No one could have seen it coming, but after batting .412 in the series, Renteria was named Most Valuable Player.

Giants Torture Fans Down to Last Strike

As usual, the San Francisco Giants drove their fans batshit crazy with another close game during their 3-2 Game 6 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday night.

It was the Giants' sixth one-run victory of the playoffs, which ties a postseason record set by the 1972 Oakland Athletics. In fact, only Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Phillies allowed their fanbase to breathe easily.

Posey, Panda and Uribe Get Giant Win

The two-time defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies are at the brink of elimination while the San Francisco Giants are just one victory away from reaching the World Series for the first time in eight years.

Juan Uribe and his achy left wrist was the big hero Wednesday night, nailing a walkoff sacrifice fly to give the Giants a 6-5 win over the Phillies for a 3-1 lead in the NLCS.

Random MLB Signings

The San Francisco Giants agreed to a one-year, $4,437, 500 deal over the weekend with Brian Wilson, avoiding a pesky arbitration hearing by settling on a figure in the middle of each proposal.

The 27-year-old righty has recorded 79 saves during his four years as the team’s full-time closer, compiling a career 3.73 ERA and 11-13 record with 86 saves.

All B-Weez has to do now is get rid of that stupid thing on his chin and lose the faux-hawk.
