Indians' Chris Perez Fined Under New Social Media Policy for "Inappropriate" Tweet
It looks like Chris Perez is the lucky recipient of this season's first fine handed out under Major League Baseball's new social media policy. Well done, sir.
The Cleveland Indians right-hander has to dish out $750 (umm... that's like you or I being fined fifty cents) for an "inappropriate" tweet last Saturday night after a heated game with the Kansas City Royals. Yes, the same game in which Jeanmar Gomez, Jack Hannahan, and Manny Acta were thrown out of.
Joe Garagiola Jr., MLB's Dean of Discipline, claimed in a letter to Perez that he "demonstrated a reckless disregard for the players on both clubs." We'll just tell you what was tweeted since it has since been unfortunately deleted:
"Huge team win tonight, time for a sweep of the Royals. It's not 'Our Time,' it's TribeTime. P.S. You hit us, we hit you. Period."
Perez cited the First Amendment and his right to freedom of speech as an American when faced with the fine. Ah, Chris, that is an excellent rebuttal... but it does not help your teammate Jeanmar's appeal case. It was supposed to be an accident, remember?

Doug Fister Hurls Tigers Past Rangers in ALCS Game 3

The right-hander with a bad case of hat-head was about as cool as the other side of the pillow in the huge Game 3, pitching 7.1 solid innings Tuesday night where he allowed just two runs on seven hits to aid in his team's 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers. Fister loves pitching at Comerica Park. He's an incredible 5-0 with an 1.23 ERA at home... pretty much unhittable.
Meanwhile, Rangers starter Colby Lewis suffered his very first postseason loss after entering the game with a career 4-0 record and 1.67 ERA in the playoffs. It was a good run.
Josh Hamilton drove in a first inning run to give Texas an early lead, but the Tigers tied it up on a Victor Martinez lead-off solo shot in the bottom of the fourth. The following inning, Miguel Cabrera said "Hold your horses, Rangers," when he hit an RBI double to the right field corner to give Detroit a 2-1 edge.
Jhonny Peralta nailed one into the Tigers bullpen in the sixth before Austin Jackson, who had three hits in the game after going 3-for-25 with 14 strikeouts over the first seven postseason contests, blooped a run-scoring single to center. Cabrera, who struggled through the first few innings, crushed a longball to left in the seventh to make it 5-1.

Ozzie Guillen Tweets Himself into a Corner
For the most part, Ozzie Guillen's tweets don't make any sense. Even if you are bilingual. Of course, that doesn't make them any less entertaining.
However, Major League Baseball is looking into any rules the Chicago White Sox manager may have broken by making derogatory comments about an umpire via Twitter after being ejected.

Winter Meetings Wish List
Happy Hot Stove everyone!Clearly, my only wish is for Joe Mauer to realize he's madly in love with me and propose, so I don't need to resort to getting on one knee with a Rolex. As far as the Winter Meetings go, we're unbiased. We love the rumors, the trades, the drama, etc.
Anyways... We've compiled a Wish List for this season's Winter Meetings consisting of our Twitter followers, Facebook friends, and a few baseball bloggers' hopes and dreams for their respective MLB teams. See if you can spot a pattern... Enjoy!
First, some tweets from our baseball-loving pals on Twitter...
@DannyPace: "My wishlist is for the Braves to unload Kawakami. I'd also like to get rid of Mclouth but don't think it'll happen."
@JessicaLovesCrew: "PITCHING! Ol' Dougie is already on it."
(Editor's note: Jessica loves baseball, beer and having fun. A girl after our own hearts.)
@TwinkieTown: "An iPad!!!! I hear there's an app that lets Jason Kubel hit left-handed pitching."

Morneau is in Justin Bieber's Wolfpack
I'm sorry, but this made me laugh super hard. Thanks to @anniekiecker for re-tweeting this gem.
Of course, RandBall beat us to the Bieber punch[line]: If the Twins walk up to bat tonight to Justin Bieber songs.

Twitter 1, Tony La Russa 0
In case you were wondering what ever happened to that Tony La Russa v. Twitter case, he has quietly dropped his law suit against the social networking site which people use to distribute news, links and tell us what their cat is up to.The lawsuit, originally filed back in May in San Francisco Superior Court before being transferred to federal court in June, alleged trademark infringement, "cybersquatting" and misappropriation of his name. Basically, someone set up a Twitter account in La Russa'a name and then said a bunch of dumb crap about his DUI and the recent deaths of St. Louis Cardinals players. This apparently caused him emotional stress, so he sued.
Twitter resolved the dispute by deleting the account in accordance with its Terms and Agreement and didn't end up paying the Cardinals manager a dime toward legal fees. They also didn't make any sort of donation toward his Animal Rescue Foundation. Poor puppies.
