Cardinals Rally Past Phillies, Cliff Lee is Human After All

The Philadelphia Phillies, as damn near unbeatable as they've been all season, were unable to stop the St. Louis Cardinals from rallying for a 5-4 win Sunday night to even up the National League Division Series at 1-1.

The Amazing Cliff Lee blew a four-run lead against the NL Wild Card winners, giving up five runs on 12 hits with nine strikeouts in 6-plus innings to lose his third consecutive playoff start. He's now 0-3 with a 7.13 ERA over his last three outings... looks like he's human after all.

St. Louis took the lead in the seventh when Allen Craig led off with a triple thanks to a botched catch by center fielder Shane Victorino. Then Albert Pujols, who had struck out in his previous two at bats, lined one over Jimmy Rollins' head to give his team the 5-4 lead.

NL Gold Gloves Awards Announced

Ryan Zimmerman earned his first career Gold Glove on Wednesday, succeeding a buddy from his youth, New York Mets' third baseman David Wright. Back when Zimmerman was a shortstop in high school, the two were teammates on a youth team.

Zim led all big league third basemen with 325 assists, becoming just the second Washington player to win the award, joining catcher Earl Battey of the Senators, who won the honor in 1960. Zim's award is especially awesome since he came from a team with the worst fielding percentage in all of baseball. The Nationals also led the league in errors with 143. Awesome.

The Philadelphia Phillies nabbed two Gold Glove positions with Jimmy Rollins at shortstop (his third) and centerfeilder Shane Victorino getting his second straight award. St. Louis Cardinals backstop Yadier Molina and San Diego Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez also became second-time winners.

The Real Wrigley Alcohol Abuser Turns Himself In

HAha

Well, at least he did the right thing for a change, since the idiot security folk got the wrong guy.

After Shane Victorino filed a police report Thursday (not sure how I feel about that move) the dumbass who poured an $8.50 beer, timed to perfection, atop the Philadelphia Phillies centerfielder's head turned himself into authorities.

The Final All-Star Votes Have Been Rocked

Inge and Victorino are your final two All-Stars

The fans have spoken. On-line voters -- a record 68.6 million -- have chosen to send Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino and Detroit Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge (not Miguel Cabrera...ahem) to the 80th annual All-Star game in St. Louis.

Victorino beat out Pablo Sandoval, Mark Reynolds, Matt Kemp and Cristian Guzman to earn a spot on the National League roster. Meanwhile, Inge overcame fans of Ian Kinsler, Chone Figgins, Carlos Pena and Adam Lind to become the final American League All-Star.
