You're Embarrassing Me, Mom!

Joba Chamberlain's mother, Jacqueline Standley, was arrested after selling meth to an undercover police officer back in February. Smooth.

Standley, 44, was taken into custody at her apartment Saturday night, and charged Monday with delivery of [exceptionally hazardous] drugs, which just so happens to be a felony.

I suppose a meth habit would explain the crazy look in her eyes.

Joba Bounces Back

New York Yankees fans can stop stressing over Joba Chamberlain. He's remembered how to pitch.

Rebounding from 2 shoddy starts, the Bronx righty allowed one run on three hits over three innings in his team's 7-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday night. Chamberlain fanned three batters, throwing 20 of 29 pitches in the strike zone. His fastball was even back up to speed, clocked at 96 mph.

Joba surrendered seven runs on four hits and walked four spanning one inning in his first two starts this Spring. What's worse is that he gave up five runs, one hit and four walks -- without recording an out -- against Team Canada last Thursday.

You Drink, You Drive, You Spill

New York Yankees flame-thrower Joba Chamberlain was picked up on DUI charges over the weekend after blowing a .134 BAC. The legal limit back home in Nebraska (a no fun zone) is 0.08.

Tsk, tsk.

First of all, he was speeding. Second, he totally had an open beer in the car with him. However, the 23-year-old righty has full support of "the Yankee family" according to Hal Steinbrenner.

Way to kick-start the offseason, Joba.

Joba Chamberlain: Flame-Thrower

Congratulations to Joba Chamberlain for finally getting his first big league win as a starter, a 10-0 rout of the Pittsburgh Pirates. And it only took five tries.

Over 114 pitches, the youngster's fastball regularly reached 99 mph, while his breaking ball helped fan seven over 6.2 innings. Joba's 2.03 ERA since making his first start June 3rd has aided the New York Yankees in wins, even though he hadn't figured into the decision until Wednesday. The club is 4-1 when he starts, allowing just two runs over his last 18.1 innings. Way to go, buddy!

Anti-Climactic is not the Word

New York Yankees youngster reliever-turned-starter, Joba Chamberlain, had received a standing ovation before even throwing his first ball as a starting pitcher on Tuesday. Way to jinx the kid, Yanks fans.

Lasting just 2.1 innings and 62 pitches, the 22-year-old righty walked four and surrendered a couple runs before watching the bullpen implode while his team took a 9-3 beat-down from the Toronto Blue Jays.

"I get in trouble when I think too much," he said. "It’s something that I pride myself on – not thinking too much."

Can I Get a Fist Pump?

Hall of Fame closer Goose Gossage apparently took issue with some of Joba Chamberlain's on-field antics during a Hall of Fame tour Monday, saying he felt there was "no place in the game" for things like fist-pumping after a strikeout.

The New York Yankees' rookie right-hander is an animated kid, and tends to get pretty fired up about making outs. But is he totally out of line? I mean, has Goose ever seen Jose Valverde pitch? Holy smokes.

The two sides relayed opinions over the phone Tuesday, but accomplished little more than to agree to disagree.

"Everybody has their own opinion," Chamberlain said. "It is what it is. I am not going to change."

Of course, you don't want to over-use the fist pump. It has its place and tends to lose effect if you're going to bust one out every time you fan somebody. So, when is it okay to show emotion on the field?

Where Does Joba Chamberlain Belong?

As the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Such is the case with the idea of moving New York Yankees hurler Joba Chamberlain from the bullpen to the starting rotation.

Last season, the 22-year-old righty went 2-0 with a minuscule 0.38 ERA during his first stint of 19 games in the big leagues, including one save and 35 strikeouts. So... what's the problem?

Chamberlain, who has a 6.14 ERA in 7.1 Grapefruit League innings this Spring, has been working as a starter -- and will eventually join the rotation -- but there are five other healthy guys who get dibs on the 1-5 spots this year.

Expect to see Joba in the setup role for long-time Yankees closer Mariano Rivera when the regular season begins with the Home Opener at Yankee Stadium against the Toronto Blue Jays on March 31st.

Now That's Home-Field Advantage

The Cleveland Indians trailed 1-0 coming into the eighth inning of Friday's ALDS Game 2 at Jacobs Field, when a frightening swarm of bugs attacked the New York Yankees, spooking rookie reliever Joba Chamberlain.

It began with a walk to Grady Sizemore, who advanced to second on a wild pitch. I suppose it's pretty hard to see with bugs feasting on your eyeballs. Asdrubal Cabrera then hit a sac fly to move Sizemore to third and after two outs, Chamberlain threw another wild pitch to Victor Martinez that scored Grady to tie the game.
