Anna Benson Tries to Trick Kris into Knocking her Up... This Show is Stupid

You'd think being obsessed with baseball and a fan of reality tv gems such as Bad Girls Club (gotta love watching drunk chicks pull each other's weaves out) would indicate that I also enjoy watching Baseball Wives. Think again.

I had never watched the show up until Wednesday when my curiosity got the best of me. Since I can't get that 60 minutes of my life back, I figure I might as well make the best of it and tell the world what a ho bag I think Anna Benson is. We've had our fun with her in the past and have been well aware of her batshit crazy tendencies ever since back when her husband Kris was relevant.

Yeah, it's been a while... which brings me to my next point. Why the hell is she even on this show? Why are any of these broads -- wife of Ron Villone and Matt Williams, ex-wives of Jason Kendall and Mark Grace (slumpbuster!) and ex-girlfriend of Nyjer Morgan -- when all of these guys other than T-Plush and Villone are retired and were never really that great anyway? Well, except for Grace. He was pretty good back in the day, and his loud mouth jibber jabber pays the bills (and the alimony) courtesy of the Arizona Diamondbacks. No wonder he got a DUI this summer.

Anyway, here's my beef with Anna. In the latest episode, she confided in Williams' wife Erika that she has stopped taking her birth control and plans to have a romantic evening with her hubby in hopes of getting knocked up. Apparently, she's discussed another pregnancy with Kris in the past and he thinks it's a terrible idea. So of course, she's going to do what any loony celebrity housewife would do: steal his sperm and make a baby without his permission.

Gross.

So Long For Now, Anna

Anna Benson: ridiculously hot wife of Kris BensonGuess what?! Kris Benson is on the disabled list again. It's like a second home to this guy.

The Texas Rangers righty landed on the 15-day DL with tendinitis in his right elbow, retroactive to April 16th. Benson, who is 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA in two starts this season, had been away from baseball since 2006. He skipped the 2007 season after shoulder surgery and pitched in the Philadelphia Phillies' minor league system in 2008 before the Phils released him in August. He then signed a minor league contract with Texas last winter and miraculously made their opening roster.

Right-handed pitcher Scott Feldman, who is 0-0 with a 12.60 ERA in two relief appearances this season, will start in Benson’s place this Saturday.

Tis the Season

There are few things more fetching than the smell of Spring in the air... especially when you live in Northern Minnesota, where we just received 10 inches of snow. Yes, baseball is definitely near.

It's just about time to grab those crisp Opening Day tickets, hurdle the turnstiles and take your seat for your favorite team's first game of the season. Or, if you're one of those folks who has a "job" or prior engagements (though I'm really not sure what could ever take precedence over a season opener, unless your team is away) then it's almost time to crack a beer and plop down on the lazy boy to tune into the best thing to happen to winter since hand-warmers.

It's baseball season. Almost.

Kris Benson Out for Entire 2007 Season

Baltimore Orioles righty Kris Benson has chosen to undergo surgery to repair a partially torn right rotator cuff which will land him on the DL, possibly until November. It was unlikely that Benson would pitch at all this season, anyway, so no surprise there.

Through the first week and a half of rehab, Benson's results were encouraging. However, last week the pain grew increasingly worse, ultimately leading to his decision to have the surgery.

It's all good in Baltimore, though.

The O's signed veteran righty Steve Trachsel to a one-year, $3.1 million deal last month to replace Benson in the event he would not return to the rotation in 2007. Smart cookies.

Benson was 11-12 with a 4.82 ERA in 30 starts for the Orioles last season - second on the team in both wins and starts, behind lefty Erik Bedard.

Ah, there was an Anna Benson joke in there somewhere, but I can't quite find it.

Kris Benson Delays Surgery

Kris Benson is making one last, desperate attempt at avoiding surgery on his injured pitching shoulder with aggressive rehabilitation.

Two of the three medical experts he consulted advised against surgery to repair his torn rotator cuff. The rehab program he will begin this week will last over a month, but with success, he would return sooner than if he opted to have the surgery, which would most likely keep him out all season.

The Baltimore righty was 11-12 with a 4.82 ERA in 30 starts last season, his first with the Orioles after being acquired from the New York Mets. Benson pitched all season with the tear, before experiencing pain this winter.

Anna Benson is Not Impressed

Kris Benson, husband of former stripper and notorious skank-weirdo Anna Benson, will likely miss the entire 2007 season with a torn rotator cuff. Surgery is required, and Benson will likely be out for anywhere from eight to 12 months. A recent MRI revealed the tear, team doctors said.

Benson signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 2006, and went 11-12 with a 4.06 ERA during his first season at Camden Yards.

No word on whether Anna's S&M tendencies contributed further to Benson's injury.
