As usual, the San Francisco Giants drove their fans batshit crazy with another close game during their 3-2 Game 6 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday night.
It was the Giants' sixth one-run victory of the playoffs, which ties a postseason record set by the 1972 Oakland Athletics. In fact, only Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Phillies allowed their fanbase to breathe easily.
Closer Brian Wilson had this to say about his team's intense style of play:
It's not going to come easy. We're not going to blow a team out. It is well earned. It is exhausting. But damn, it feels good.Juan Uribe was the hero for the clincher, but Cody Ross pretty much came out of nowhere, doing more than his part to make sure his team was in it to win it.
After being shunned by the Florida Marlins and being claimed off waivers by the Giants back on August 22, the spunky outfielder had just 21 hits in 33 games for San Francisco this season. Then came his first postseason. Ross is batting .324 through his first two playoff series, including eight RBI and four home runs in the NLCS with some great defensive plays to earn the MVP honor. Way to go buddy!
Game 1 of ths 2010 World Series is scheduled for Wednesday night at 7:30pm ET at AT&T Park, thanks to the National League winning this year's All Star Game. Tim Lincecum will take the hill for San Francisco, facing Texas southpaw Cliff Lee in a downright ridiculous matchup.
Stock up on your Rolaids, Giants fans. You're bound to be in for another wild ride.
Funny story: some crazy broads from Philly tried to convince a waiter to slip Pat Burrell and Brian Wilson some laxatives the evening before Game 6. Read more about those shenanigans at NBC Bay Area.

Cody Ross is too cute. How great for him to finaly find an organization where he can flourish!
Bwaahahahaha "the machine" ... now I get it.
This is the first World Series I've ever looked forward to that doesn't include the Red Sox.
