Matt Capps Suspended for Beaning Prince Fielder

Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Matt Capps was fined and suspended four games Monday for nailing Milwaukee Brewers' first baseman Prince Fielder with a pitch during their 6-3 loss Saturday at Miller Park.

The penalty will start Tuesday unless Capps appeals.

Capps hit Fielder in the right shoulder just after giving up a three-run shot to J.J. Hardy in the seventh inning. He was immediately ejected by plate umpire Alfonso Marquez.

Capps, of course, denied intentionally throwing at Fielder and referred to the ump's decision as "a judgmental call on his part."

The right-hander is 2-0, with a 2.25 ERA in 18 games this season.

Totally unfair. Players get HBP every day. Well, not eveyday, but seriously. How can Capps prove he's not the type of pitcher to intentionally hit a batter?

I guess he can't technically 'prove' it, but he can appeal.
