A Little Late, a Little Long

The Chicago White Sox gave catcher A.J. Pierzynski a two-year, $12.5 million contract extension Saturday, keeping him on the South Side through the 2010 season.

The controversial backstop was batting .263 with 14 homers and 50 RBIs before Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers.

The White Sox, who were 17 games under .500 coming into the last game of the season, have also signed their loud-mouth manager Ozzie Guillen, left-hander Mark Buehrle, who threw a no-no earlier in the year, and right fielder Jermaine Dye to contract extensions this year.

Will this move help them win another World Series? Ah, no. Let's try playing .500 baseball first. One thing is for sure, it ought to make for at least two more entertaining seasons.

He sucks on levels that can't even be measured by men.

AJ is a total d-bag. Do Sox fans really like him?

For real? But AJP is a total 'tard!

(This means, though, that between Bueherle, Ozzie G. and AJP's contracts, the Pale Hose probably can't afford to bring back one Mr. Bacon Pants. Good news for the Phillies!)

YES, SOX FANS LOVE AJ! Megs, anonymous and clare: come on down to the South Side and say that in person. There are quite a few of us that would like to set you straight. I was excited to see other girls having a blog but if you are this dumb I guess I'm not coming back...and there is money to go around. Check out KW's last press conference. http://podcast.670thescore.com/wscr/695016.mp3

We're not dumb anonymous, just choosy about who we consider talented, I guess.

You're really going to stand up for a .263 hitter that contributed 50 RBIs to your club and puts ugly bows on his kids' head? C'mon.
