The San Diego Padres were just one strike away from punching their third straight playoff ticket when Tony Gwynn Jr. rained on their parade. Junior hit the tying, two-out triple off Trevor Hoffman in the ninth inning to help the Milwaukee Brewers play the spoiler and beat San Diego 4-3 in eleven innings on Saturday.
The Pads can end this madness with a win on Sunday behind Brett Tomko, saving their ace Jake Peavy for a potential tie-breaking playoff on Monday.
