St. Louis Cardinals Pick Up Todd Wellemeyer
With right-hander Brad Thompson moving to the rotation, the St. Louis Cardinals found an opening in their bullpen. So they claimed a mediocre pitcher off waivers from the Kansas City Royals, with a plan in mind to add him to their roster this weekend.
Righty Todd Wellemeyer, 28, was 0-1 with a 10.34 ERA in 12 games for the Royals this season, allowing 25 hits in 15.2 innings. The righty has a career record of 6-8 with a 5.65 ERA. Now, he gets to suck with the reigning World Series Champs!
In 16 games (2 starts) for the Cardinals this season, Thompson is 2-0 with a 4.03 ERA. He has struck out fifteen, allowed 13 runs and walked nine.

Loved the caption for Thompson's mugshot.
It's only funny cause it's true.
