Indians Manhandle Twins
The Cleveland Indians managed to put together two separate six-run innings behind Paul Byrd last night for a 15-7 victory over the Minnesota Twins. They improved to 12-3 at home, the majors' best.
Byrd (3-1, 3.49 ERA) won for the first time in three May starts and allowed five runs on seven hits over seven innings to improve to 7-3 in 13 career starts against Minnesota while striking out seven and walking three.
Jhonny Peralta homered with four RBIs, Grady Sizemore had a two-run shot and three other hits, and Josh Barfield lined three hits and three RBIs for the Tribe. Travis Hafner walked three times, adding to his league-leading 34.
Ramon Ortiz (3-4, 4.89 ERA) pitched only one inning, but it was enough to do some damage. He allowed 6 runs on seven hits, walking one. The Twins relief corps combined for 6 runs (3 earned) 3 walks and only 5 strikeouts over eight innings.
Justin Morneau hit two solo shots - his sixth career two-homer game - Michael Cuddyer had a two-run homer and Jason Kubel added a solo for the Twins, who entered yesterday's game with a league-worst 23 home runs in their first 37 games.

what an awful game.
Yeah, Ortiz kinda fell apart in the first. Crain had a terrible sixth. But it's like, 7 runs?! What more could you want out of the offense? At least they did their job.
