Yorvit Torrealba Shoves Face Mask of Umpire in Venezuela, Suspended 66 Games

Every player knows you can never win an argument over balls and strikes with an umpire. It just doesn't happen. Every player also knows you cannot, under any circumstances, whether intentional or not, touch an umpire. Not only can you not touch an ump, it's certainly not okay to bitch slap one right across the face.

Apparently Yorvit Torrealba didn't get that memo.

Rangers Give Yorbit Torrealba 2-Year Deal

The Texas Rangers have taken care of a little unfinished offseason business by signing on Yorvit Torrealba as their starting catcher.

Less than a month after their first World Series appearance and what could possibly be the final game for aging backstop Bengie Molina, the American League champions inked Torrealba to a two-year, $6.25 million deal.

Torrealba Deal Goes Limp

New York Mets fans can forget about Yorvit Torrealba calling Shea Stadium home next season.

The club has reportedly tossed negotiations out the window with the free agent catcher after they were unable to finalize a $14.4 million, three-year deal this weekend.

The 29-year-old backstop hit .255 with eight bombs and 47 RBIs in 113 games with the Colorado Rockies this season, and hit .256 with a homer and eight RBIs in the playoffs.
