World Series Heads to Arlington All Tied Up After Rangers' Ninth Inning Rally

Down to their last three outs and facing another World Series loss, the Texas Rangers hooked up some smart base-running and timely hitting to tie the series at a game a-piece with a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday night.

Allen Craig once again hit the go-ahead single, this time in the seventh, to give the Cardinals a one-run lead that lasted a whole inning. We totally knew they were gonna blow it as soon as Ian Kinsler dropped a base hit off closer Jason Motte into shallow center field over the head of Rafael Furcal and out of the reach of Matt Holliday in the top of the ninth. Those circus acts always result in at least a run or two.

Arthur Rhodes Lands on the DL

Arthur Rhodes has somehow managed to land himself on the disabled list without even pitching a single game this season.

The Mariners placed the veteran lefty on the 15-day DL on Tuesday (retroactive to April 4th), citing inflammation in his pitching elbow.

The 37-year-old Rhodes arrived at Seattle's Spring Training camp as a non-roster invitee before making the club when he posted a 2.57 ERA in eight appearances. Beginning his 17th season in the majors, Rhodes owns a career 75-60 record with 30 saves and a 4.31 ERA in 653 games.

Rhodes Returns To Mariners

The Seattle Mariners are possibly giving 36-year-old Arthur Rhodes another shot in the bullpen, agreeing Thursday to a minor league contract that could be worth $1 million for one year if he is added to the big league roster, including a chance to earn another $150,000 in performance bonuses.

After a nine-year career as a starter with the Baltimore Orioles, the lefty reliever came to Seattle from 2000-03, enjoying a 26-15 record in his four seasons as their main setup man. In 2001, he sported an 8-0 record with a 1.72 ERA in 71 appearances when the Mariners won 116 games.

Upon leaving Seattle, he tried on an Oakland Athletics uniform, then traded it in for one season as a Cleveland Indian, before joining the Philadelphia Phillies in 2006.
