We mentioned last week how much the Seattle Mariners were sucking at baseball, and after an entire weekend, that is still the case.
Generally, records and milestones are pretty awesome accomplishments. In the 43-58 Mariners' case, the record they set on Sunday is rather embarrassing. The club suffered a franchise-worst 15th straight loss upon a 12-8 rout by the Boston Red Sox that afternoon, etching this particular team's name into the Seattle Museum of Suckdom.
The Mariners' current skid shattered the club's previous record for its longest losing streak of 14, set back in 1992. However, they still have their sights on passing up the Kansas City Royals, who dropped 19 consecutive games in 2005. It's important to have goals!
Manager Eric Wedge had this to say:
"It’s frustrating, sure, but we’ve got a lot of baseball to play. We’re trying to get guys going in the right direction, but we’ve got to put it all together to get a win against the teams we’re playing now."Wedge, who went so far as to shave off his mustache after Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Red Sox, is definitely going to get canned. There's honestly no doubt in my mind or the minds of any baseball fan on earth who's ever seen a skipper take the brunt. Happy trails, buddy.
The M's head to Yankee Stadium this evening with Jason Vargas on the hill against Freddy Garcia at 7:05pm ET. Good luck with that fellas.

They all look so sad in that pic.
"Can the Mariners get their crap together?"
Doubtful.
