The Texas Rangers have taken care of a little unfinished offseason business by signing on Yorvit Torrealba as their starting catcher.
Less than a month after their first World Series appearance and what could possibly be the final game for aging backstop Bengie Molina, the American League champions inked Torrealba to a two-year, $6.25 million deal.
Torrealba hit .271 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in 95 games with the San Diego Padres last season, starting 89 games. Texas is also interested in letting back-up catcher Matt Treanor hang around next season, even though he hit only .211 over 82 games.
In other Rangers news, the team also agreed to a $1.2 million, one-year contract with righty Mark Lowe on Monday.

I'm really sad to see Bengie go, but Torrealba will be a great starting catcher.
Yorvit looks pretty exhausted in that pic. Or maybe he's sick to his stomach over how crappy the Pads were last season.
