Joe Mauer has finally agreed to a contract extension with the Twins. All is right again in Minnesota.
The 26-year-old All-Star catcher inked a $184 million, eight-year contract Monday at a news conference in the Twins' spring training home of Fort Myers, Fla. Interestingly, he used the same pen he signed his rookie contract with in 2001 as the No. 1 pick in the draft right out of St. Paul's Cretin-Derham Hall High School.
"Wow," said the soft-spoken hometown hero. "There are a lot of people in this room who I care a lot about. I’m kind of getting emotional. There are a lot of people who helped me get to this point."Man Muscles batted .365 to earn his third American League batting title last season, nailing a career-best 28 home runs and 96 RBI after missing the entire month of April while recovering from a back injury.
He went on to win his second Gold Glove Award and his first MVP honor as well. In short, he is a total badass. And now he's totally rich.

And now the Twins will charge $10 for Grain Belts to pay his salary.

I honestly can't even wrap my head around these baseball contracts. It's like they're playing with monopoly money with that many zeros lol.

All is right again in Minnesota. Actually, it feels like all is right again with the whole world.
Well said Tricia.
So Yankee-esque of the Twins....
I love a man who isn't afraid of commitment.
He got sniffly. Then I got sniffly. He really *has* grown his man muscles! How time flies!
