Let the Bidding War Begin!

Watch out, American League. Manny wants to be Manny with you again. Maybe.

Entering into the second year of his two year contract with the LA Dodgers, Manny Ramirez said this would be his last year with the club. Will he retire? Will he keep playing? Will he try to be the first man in history to have a baby after his womens infertility treatments?

The 37-year-old butterfly chaser, er, outfielder, had a less-than-Manny-caliber 2009 season that included a 50 game suspension for violating the MLB's drug policy and a wrist injury. He ended up with a .290 average, hit 19 bombs, and managed to do pretty well in the post season. Those numbers were the worst he'd had since 1994. Don't get us wrong, that's pretty good in comparison to a lot of MLB players, but when you're getting paid as much as he is, and generate as many headlines and controversy as he does, you better be able to prove your worth.

Depending on how he plays and how he feels at the end of this year, he may retire... or he and super agent Scott Boras may try to get some struggling AL team looking for a bat and some extra ticket sales to cough up the dough for a DH who will be a year closer to his AARP card. He's already trying to sell himself as still being able to hack it by saying "I feel good. From my waist down, I feel 15. From the neck up, I feel 43." I really hope by that he means he can still chase a fly ball, and not that he has to walk around holding his glove in front of him. I'm sorry I had to make you picture that.
