According to New York Mets manager Jerry Manuel, David Wright could possibly miss the rest of the season after getting beaned in the head by an unintentional 94 mph Matt Cain fastball in his team's 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday.
The All-Star third baseman was hit just above the ear hole in the fourth inning, sending his batting helmet flying. Wright laid there for several minutes before walking off the field with some help from trainers.
He was released from the hospital on Sunday and placed directly on the disabled list. After being examined by a neurologist twice over the weekend, Wright was still experiencing post-concussion symptoms.
Wright was batting .324 with 8 homers and 55 RBI for the Mets this season. Get well soon.

Glad he's going to be okay, like not braindead.
I knew it was kinda bad, but not that bad!
It would suck if he ended up like Corey Koskie!
I was watching that game and it was SICK. Cain obviously wasn't trying to hit him, and especially wouldn't have hit him in the head if he was. Some idiot on Twitter said the Mets should file assault charges. Really? Like it or not, it's part of the game, things happen. Just glad it wasn't worse, no blood. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
