Man Muscles Swings to a New Beat

Welcome to the Metrodome. Here's some hair.

Not only will Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer be stepping into the batter's box for the first time this season on Friday (weeeeee!) against the Kansas City Royals, but he'll be doing it to a different tune.

St. Paul rapper and homeboy of Man Muscles, A & R has once again come up with an original song for the reigning AL batting champ to show off his sweet swing to this season. Last year, Mauer stepped up to the plate to the sound of Joe Mauer's Theme Song, created by A & R, especially for Joe.

You can have a listen to the new song here

Anyways... we've had this discussion before, but maybe you've changed your tune. If you were a big leaguer, what would your at bat music be? Mine would almost certainly have to be Rolling Stones, Honky Tonk Woman. Yes, that is exactly how I roll. How's that for cowbell, Tampa Bay?

P.S. Mauer returned with a bang Friday night, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a walk and his first hit of the season coming on a longball in his very first at bat. He is batting .667 on the season.

[Twins Baseball]. It kinda makes me wanna shake my butt. I wonder why Joe didn't pick this one?

I would steal Justin's from 2008: Dirty Deeds.

No doubt in my mind, it would have to be Magic Stick by Lil' Kim. Dirty, yet totally relevant.

Thriller.

Thriller is totally Nick Punto's walk-up music. No lie.

The part where the guitar riff comes in on "Do You Wanna Get Heavy" by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

And then I would smash shit. That's how Jon would have wanted it.

Come Together by The Beatles. Just drips with coolness.

Sadly it would be Cowboy by Kid Rock.

I don't even like him, but for some reason that song just revs me up in the way I imagine I'd want if I were playing in the Major League.

I make every owner in my roto auction keeper league (with a live draft) choose this. Mind was "Got Yo' Money" by Ol' Dirty Bastard.

Personally, I about died at the home opener this year and Redmond (who has a reputation for getting nekked.. a lot) steps up to 'We don't have to take our clothes off'.
Seriously.
I think I'd have to do some old school NKOTB.. Hangin' Tough.. Just cuz.

This is a question I think about a lot, actually. I have to go with "Here I Come" by The Roots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDo-dPr0_Z8

Second choice would be "Powers" by Blackalicious: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=524022

Possibly Kid Rock's "Bawitdaba" for my at bat. If I were a closer I'd probably go with "Lose Yourself" by Eminem.

That's easy: Theme song to the Golden Girls.

Sorry for my metalheadedness: I'm going with Disturbed's "Hell."

Mine changes all the time, but currently I'd go with Glory from Umprey's McGee (hit the three minute mark to really get to face melting stuff).

"Here" by Luscious Jackson.

Whimsical, arrogant, music from when I was thirteen years old. It would lead to an MVP Season.
