Doc, along with his trusty cutter, curveball and sinker, tossed seven dominant innings Thursday against the Minnesota Twins, allowing just one run (on a fielder's choice) and eight hits without a walk in his team's 9-2 victory. The win -- highlighted by eight strikeouts -- improves Halladay's record to 8-0 against Minnesota, who recently snapped a nine-game losing streak against the Jays, just to lose two more in a row. Yes, Harry Leroy Halladay the III has the Twins' number. Toronto took three of the four-game series in commandeering fashion.
Opposing pitcher Francisco Liriano threw 104 pitches, so six innings was all he could handle after giving up two runs, seven hits and a walk. He struck out five, but the slumping Twins obviously needed more help than that to pull out a win. Their starters are 2-6 with a 5.40 ERA, but it doesn't help that their lineup has produced only 14 runs over their last six games.
Hardcore suckfest. As a Twins fan, I'm a tad concerned. So, of course, I spoke with my mother about it. Conjuring her vast knowledge of baseball odds, she settled me down by saying, "Honey, I bet they'll win again."
Really mom? You don't think they'll go 4-158 this season?

What a HORRIBLE start to the season!! 4-7? Yuck!
First, nice Tombstone quote. Second, your mom is a smart woman.
Greatest movie of all time. And yes, I realize it's only week 2... blah.
"Also, is this Roy Holiday single? I bet he makes lots of money in the baseball."
Roy Halladay is a deity.
On top of everything that makes Roy Halladay great, he's a dedicated family man and tireless worker for his charity. Read about it here. Yes, the man is a deity.
