Jones, whose batting average dipped below .400 for the first time in 10 weeks after an 0-for-4 Thursday, left in the top of the eighth even though he hurt himself while scoring in the fourth. He leads the big leagues with a .390 batting average and has 16 homers and 45 RBIs over 67 games this season. Man, I love that guy.
Also injured in Friday's game was shortstop Yunel Escobar, who made his exit in the ninth with a strained right hip flexor. He's listed as day-to-day.
Update: There's no stopping Chipper Jones. He hits even when he doesn't play. Prime example: his pinch-hit RBI single in the eighth Saturday against the Mariners.

Your obsession and/or attraction to Chipper Jones is baffling. Mind-boggling.
That's cause you're a Mets fan... and a straight man.
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of wombs suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
Your obsession and/or attraction to Chipper Jones is awesome.
YAY CHIPPER!
