His dog ate it.
The baseball used to record the final out of the Boston Red Sox 2007 World Series sweep was shredded to pieces by his bulldog, Boss.
Apparently, a counter top is a fine place to keep a souvenir from one of the biggest games of your career.
Papelbon struck out Colorado Rockies pinch-hitter Seth Smith to polish off a World Series victory on Oct. 28th, throwing his glove in the air while catcher Jason Varitek slipped the ball into his back pocket. Tek gave the ball to Papelbon a couple days later and the rest is rawhide.
I wonder how much it will go for on eBay when it resurfaces 10 years from now...

You nailed it! There's no way his dog ate it. Who would leave a world series-used baseball on their counter? It just doesn't add up.
Are you implying that Mr. Papelboner is A LIAR?! I don't buy it either.
this is old old news. like three weeks old. but thanks for the awesome paps photo.
Anytime, buddy.
