Kansas City Royals second baseman Mark Grudzielanek will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday and is expected to be out at least a month with a medial meniscus cartilage tear. I totally know what that means. He first experienced knee pain Friday night and reported it to the training staff Saturday before team doctors recommended the surgery.
Once Grudzielanek is cleared to travel, he will return to spring training camp to begin rehabilitation. There isn't neccessarily a timetable for his return, but GM Dayton Moore offered a 30-day estimate on the Royals/Rangers radio broadcast Sunday.
Grudzielanek, 36, hit .297 and won his first Gold Glove award last season, his first year with the Royals. He had a .994 fielding percentage with only four errors and led American League second basemen with 111 double plays.
