Albert Pujols: Menace to Society

Not for those with the weak stomachs... Albert Pujols manages to knock both Padres pitcher Chris Young and catcher Josh Bard out of the game Wednesday night in San Diego.

For the record, I'm a huge fan of Pujols and happen to think he's a classy guy. Both incidences were unpredictable and without malice.

HT to Awful Announcing and the beautiful Jen for the heads up.

If you follow the Cards like I do you know Albert felt terrible about both incidents. La Russa took him out of the game late because he was a bit shaken, not because the Cards were up big.

I watched that game. Not Pujols' fault at all, either play. Poor fielding/reflexes by Chris Young (Greg Maddux would've caught it easily!). Local broadcast decided to not show much of Young, on the ground and bleeding profusely, they claimed it was "too graphic". And the play at the plate was clean, Josh Bard's fault for not setting up properly against a grizzly bear like Albert. And, if Chris Young had caught the ball in the first place, there wouldn't have BEEN a play at the plate!
Teams must love coming to San Diego, batters fatten up their numbers and pitchers add some great stats. Gosh, we suck.
