San Francisco Giants shortstop Omar Vizquel and his vacuum glove will be out roughly 4-5 weeks after having arthroscopic surgery Wednesday to remove torn cartilage from his left knee.
The 11-time Gold Glover, who will turn 41 in April, felt a pop when he was running Tuesday, and an MRI revealed the injury. With Omar rehabbing, Kevin Frandsen will become the starting shortstop this spring.
Vizquel signed a $5.3 million, one-year deal for a fourth season in November, including a club option for a second season. He batted just .246 with four homers and 51 RBIs last season, but rocked up the middle as always.

That's ancient for a short stop! He's not a great hitter anyhow, no matter how great his defense is.
agreed jacob... middle infielders these days are calling upon power and speed year after year after year. Tis why guys like the Izturis brothers don't last too long in the majors.
