Craig Monroe, who was acquired by the Minnesota Twins in mid-November for a player to be named, agreed to a $3.82 million, one-year contract with the club on Tuesday -- the eve of the deadline for big league teams to strike a deal with unsigned players on their 40-man rosters. The 30-year-old outfielder, who will most likely learn to spell [Michael] Cuddyer and [Delmon] Young at the corners, hit a combined .219 with 12 homers and 59 RBIs last season between the Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs.
His Jedi powers (pictured right) may come in handy considering the Twins' lethargic offense.

With my luck he'll find his mojo and whomp on the Tigers this year. Monroe has incredible talent, but he's just never been able to put it all together. I've taken to calling it Carlos Pena Syndrome.
I pronounce this, as the kids say, "dope". .219 won't happen again with knowledge of the force like that.
Now lets convince the Yankees to offer Cabrera and Hughes again. I love Santana to death but he's going to end up there after next season if we don't trade him anyway.
Wendy - CPS. I like it.
Muckup - I couldn't agree more, except it'd be awesome if we could keep him around just a little while longer and trade him by the deadline...
Santana has said in the past he will not waive his no trade clause during the season. So it kind of forces the Twins to deal him in the off-season.
Yeah, Mel -- it's heart-breaking that way...
Maybe they could sign him to a humongous deal, but do away with that silly no-trade clause? I can't have both, can I?
