Cubs, Tigers Make Swap

Jacque JonesJacque Jones is moving from starting centerfielder in the North side of Chicago to second fiddle in Detroit after the Cubbies traded him to the Tigers for utilityman Omar Infante.

Jones, who hit .285 with 5 homers and 66 RBIs in 135 games last season, is expected to split time in left with Marcus Thames and provide some depth behind Curtis Granderson and Magglio Ordonez at the other outfield positions.

Infante hit .271 with two longballs and 17 RBIs in 66 games with Detroit, playing a total of six positions, including second base, third base, shortstop and all three spots in the outfield.

The Tigers also agreed to a $7 million, one-year contract with free agent, mustachioed closer Todd Jones Monday.

Wow - a lefty hitting left fielder is exactly what we needed - not to mention that he can consistently hit over .250 - add that to Edgar Renteria and world series here we come!!! (missing Sean Casey though...)
