Who The Hell Is That?

In front of more than 43,000 fans, Curacao native Jair Jurrjens (Zja-hir Yur-yens) pitched the stadium lights out for the Detroit Tigers Tuesday night.

The youngster allowed just one hit in his second big league start, backed by consecutive homers from Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Guillen for a 2-1 win over the Cleveland Indians in the opening game of a big three-game series.
"I'm going to remember this for the rest of my life," Jurrjens said.
The 21-year-old righty just plain out-dueled Tribe starter Fausto Carmona, carrying a no-hit bid into the sixth inning until Jhonny Peralta homered with one out for the Indians' one and only hit of the game.

JJ (1-1, 3.29 ERA) exhaled as he exited the hill to a standing ovation. Post-game, he said his phone was going to go crazy that night, since the game was also televised in the Dutch Caribbean. He added, "It's just a dream come true."

Fun fact from Elias: For the first time in franchise history, the Indians' lone hit was a home run.

Jair Jurrjens vs. Fausto Carmona?!?

Sounds like a featherweight fight on the undercard.

Thanks for clearing up that whole pronunciation thing, I think I'll stick to J.J. though.
