The Los Angeles Dodgers threw up another goose egg last night, getting blanked for the third consecutive contest with their 1-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Make that 28 innings without crossing home plate, to be exact.
Ken Griffey Jr. had a 2-for-4 night, singling home the lone Reds run in the third inning off Chad Billingsley for his 71st RBI of the year. Of course, Junior also flashed the leather a bit, which managed to stomp any hopes of a Dodgers rally.
Billingsley lasted five innings allowing the 1 run on 6 hits with 3 strikeouts and four walks.Aaron Harang pitched a four-hitter for eight innings with 1 walk, fanning eight Los Angeles batters.
David Weathers worked the ninth for the save, his 22nd of the season in 27 opportunities.
Fun fact from Elias: The Dodgers haven't been shut out 3 consecutive times since 1966, which happened twice, the latter being the final three games of the World Series. We highly doubt that will be the case this season, however.
