The Atlanta Braves placed closer Octavio Dotel on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain on Friday.

Dotel has only been a Brave since the trade deadline, when he was acquired as a setup man from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for right-hander Kyle Davies.

The 33-year-old righty is 2-1 with a 4.61 ERA this season, recording 11 saves as the Royals' closer. However, Dotel has already allowed four runs on four hits in just 4.1 innings (five appearances) with the Braves.

He is also at a high risk for biting his tongue clear off every time he releases the ball.

The Colorado Rockies have placed pitcher Jason Hirsh on the 15-day disabled list with a broken right leg.

Hirsh was nailed by a J.J. Hardy's liner in the first inning Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers, but managed to remain in the game and pitched six innings for the win. With a broken leg. Postgame X-rays revealed the fractured right fibula and it's unclear how long the righty will be out.

Hirsh is 5-7 with a 4.81 ERA in 19 starts this season since coming to the Rocky Mountains in an offseason trade with the Houston Astros for pitcher Jason Jennings.

Hirsh is so tough - it's ridiculous.
