Jeff Baker Smoked In The Face

Colorado Rockies first baseman Jeff Baker left the game in the seventh inning Friday night against the Chicago Cubs after he was nailed just above the left eye by a Jason Marquis pitch.

Marquis was replaced by Carlos Marmol immediately after hitting Baker and left the hill amidst boos from Rockies fans.

He was concerned after the game however, and called the Rockies clubhouse for an update on Baker with the intention of calling back when test results were completed.
"Obviously, it was a pitch that got away from me," Marquis said. "It's something that you never want to see. Hopefully he gets better and the results come out on the good side."
Update: Baker was put on the 15-day DL Saturday after suffering a mild concussion and a cut on his cheek.

Concussions are definitely nothing to mess with, I'm glad they're giving him time to recover.
