It took only 125 years of bad pitching, hitting and managing with only one World Series victory, but the long-awaited milestone for Phillies fans has finally arrived. After prolonging the inevitable for 3 games, the Philadelphia Phillies have finally reached ten-thousand losses.
A standing ovation erupted in This Phillies team however, is happy to be one game above even. At 46-45, they remain 5 games behind the NL East leading New York Mets midway through this season.
Albert Pujols hit a two-run shot in the fifth off Adam Eaton (8-6, 5.98 ERA) that was followed by Chris Duncan's 17th of the year for a 6-0 lead. Pujols, Juan Encarnacion and Adam Kennedy each homered in the seventh and Ryan Ludwick added a solo shot in the eighth to make it 10-zip.
Michael Bourn ruined the shutout in the ninth with his first big league homer and Chase Utley added an RBI double.
Fun facts from Elias: It was the 58th time the Phillies have lost by a 10-2 score.

At least they have been around to have 10,000 losses. As far as I can tell there are only about 5 or 6 organizations that have been around long enough to have that. This sucks for the current team...they are going to get blamed for it, but have very little to do with it.
