Sunday's Babelicious Scoreboard

So, if you were wondering when we'd start to get pumped about the Chicago Cubs, now is about the time.

Hard-luck hurler Jason Marquis allowed only four hits in seven innings to earn his first win since May 9th, topping the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-1 on Sunday. He allowed just the one run with five strikeouts and one walk after going 0-3 in his previous nine starts.

Marquis' lone miscue came on Corey Hart's leadoff homer in the sixth, although there was one unnerving moment when he was smashed in the face and forearm by the barrel of Ryan Braun's lumber on a broken-bat grounder toward the hill.

Aramis Ramirez doubled in two runs in the first inning, and Derrek Lee and Mark DeRosa added RBI singles in the third as the Cubs took an early 4-0 lead.

Ryan Theriot had an awesome game as well, nailing three doubles and scoring three runs for a club that has had a tough time gaining any ground on Milwaukee.

This victory marks the eighth in nine games for the Cubbies, who took two of three from the NL Central leaders and trail them by 6.5 games. The Brew Crew's Dave Bush lasted six innings, surrendering four runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked two after winning his previous two starts with an extra W in relief last week.

Yeah, I wouldn't get too alarmed if I were the Brew Crew.

Did you see the crowd at the Marlins game? No neither did I!

This was a Sunday game and the stands were completely empty man. Things are not looking good for the Marlins. Again.

That game was totally out of control. Holy sloppy defense, batman! On both ends! The Braves had that game in the bag, thanks to the Marlins... then BAM! Wickman totally unraveled.

lol, yeah sloppy defense is right. I spent most of the game thinking 'there's no way this game can get any sillier'... and then it would do.
