Do Old People Still Like Cats and Porch Swings?
Or do they just want to play baseball?
In a move that can only be described as total desperation, the St. Louis Cardinals called up former closer Troy Percival, two years into his retirement.
The 37-year-old former All-Star, 12th on the career saves list with 324, left the game due to constant soreness in his pitching shoulder.
So... is it better now? Percy claims it feels how it's always felt: crappy.
The righty signed a minor league contract with the Cards on June 8th and appeared in six games with the AAA Memphis Redbirds, accumulating a 1.35 ERA over 6.2 innings pitched.
The first 10 years of his career were spent with the Los Angeles Angels, where he closed out their World Series championship in 2002. He ended his career in Detroit, serving as a scout with the Tigers last season.
In a related move, St. Louis sent right-handed reliever Andy Cavazos down to AAA after going 0-0 with a 5.79 ERA in seven games, allowing seven runs on 11 hits in just 11 innings of work.

*Speaking of... a record seven hurlers over the age of 40 are scheduled to start today.

Bust out the Bengay!
Are you sure that Andy Cavazos isn't old as well? Because I thought only my grandfather rocked the straight brim on his hat.
He's gangstuh.
