Who jinxed the New York Yankees?
Working on a no-hitter into the seventh inning, Phil Hughes stepped off the mound, winced and grabbed the back of his left thigh after throwing a one-out, 0-2 breaking ball to Mark Teixeira. He was pulled after 83 pitches with a 9-0 lead.
The club's most prized prospect is expected to miss four to six weeks with a hamstring injury.
Hank Blalock spoiled the no-no with a leadoff double in the eighth against unorthodox reliever Mike Myers, but the Yankees held on with a 10-1 victory over the Texas Rangers - New York's second win in 10 games.
