Frank Catalanotto On The DL
The Texas Rangers placed Frank Catalanotto on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained biceps muscle in his right arm.
The 33-year-old had an MRI exam on Tuesday that revealed no tears in the muscle, so the club is confident that surgery will not be necessary, expecting Catalanotto to miss no more than 15 days.
In 18 games with Texas this season, the veteran outfielder is batting .140 with two home runs and eight RBI.
Outfielder Victor Diaz has been recalled from AAA Oklahoma to replace Catalanotto on the roster. Diaz was hitting .356 with three homers and 28 RBIs with the RedHawks. The 25-year-old Dominican appeared in 110 games with the New York Mets from 2004-06, batting .260 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs.
