The Chicago Cubs put Wade Miller's season out of its misery on Monday, placing the righty on the 15-day disabled list due to back spasms.
Curiously, this move comes just one day after Miller was absolutely rocked by the St. Louis Cardinals for seven runs in 4.2 innings of the 12-9 loss. Over three starts this season, Miller is 0-1 with a 10.54 ERA.
Meanwhile, the club recalled righty Rocky Cherry (awesome baseball name) from AAA Iowa. The 27-year-old Cherry was impressive for the Cubs during spring training, going 1-1 with a 1.46 ERA along with five saves in 12 relief appearances.
Cherry bears a striking resemblance to Rocky Balboa in that particular photo. It's almost scary.
