Really Milwaukee Brewers? You're dishing out $29.75 million over the next three seasons for Randy Wolf? He's really still a $10 million/year type of guy, huh? Hey, what do I know -- maybe that's why I'm not a GM.

The deal, which is still in the works but was leaked by an anonymous source on Wednesday, even includes a $10 million option for 2013. They may change their minds by then, though. The 34-year-old lefty was 11-7 with a decent 3.23 ERA for the Los Angeles Dodgers this season.

Oh yeah, the Brew Crew wants to give LaTroy Hawkins a two-year deal, too. (Yep. He still plays baseball.) At least they're only dropping $7.5 million on that bomb.

LaTroy Hawkins: Pranksters Rule

There's nothing quite like a good prank. Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick was hit hard last month when his teammates, coaches and the media got together to tell him he was traded to Japan. But was he afraid or humiliated? Probably not.

It's the pranks that scare and/or embarrass the crap out of people that are the best kind. LaTroy Hawkins (yes, he still plays baseball) and Brian Bruney tend to agree.

The New York Yankees relievers sneaked into last year's #1 pick Andrew Brackman's locker to mess with his stuff. When the rookie opened it yesterday morning, he discovered his sliders had been slit down the middle. His cap was also cut, along with six pair of workout shoes and a new pair of spikes, filleted from tongue to toe.

LaTroy Hawkins is Old

...and officially over-paid.

The New York Yankees have finalized their signing of reliever LaTroy Hawkins to a $3.75 million, one-year deal, just a day after another has-been hurler, Mark Prior, scored a cool mill off the already-stacked San Diego Padres.

The Yanks' plan is obviously to strengthen the core of their middle relief with a veteran presence. Also quite obvious is the fact that LaTroy is about the last dude you'd expect to fulfill that obligation.

Hawkins, who turned 35 last week, went 2-5 with a 3.42 ERA last season for the NL Champion Colorado Rockies, who declined his $3.75 million option. One thing the righty does have going for him is his most-recent post season performance. In five playoff appearances in 2007, Hawkins surrendered one run on one hit over five innings.

During Sirius' Sports Action News Desk radio show Friday, Hawkins gave his opinion on performance-enhancing drugs after host Jason Page asked if he cared if hitters were juiced up.

“No, I don’t [care]. That’s just my personal opinion. Still got to hit the ball, brother.”

He has a career 56-76 record with 75 saves and a 4.68 ERA over 13 seasons in the big leagues. No, that is not good.

LaTroy Hawkins Still Plays Baseball?

The New York Yankees have reached a preliminary agreement on a one-year, $3.75 million deal with old school reliever LaTroy Hawkins.

The soon-to-be 35-year-old righty went 2-5 with a 3.42 ERA last season for the Colorado Rockies, making $3.25 million before the club declined their $3.75 million option to hurl him into free agency with a $250,000 buyout instead.

Though the Yanks transformed minor league-starter Joba Chamberlain into a setup man for the last couple months of the season, they plan to include him in the rotation next year, so this move may prove as wise considering the instability of Kyle Farnsworth and the lack of a veteran presence in middle relief.

Don't worry Bronx Bomber fans, it's only a year.
