The stove was smoldering during Day 2 of the Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.The Colorado Rockies agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with Ty Wigginton Tuesday, according to an anonymous source close to negotiations.
The 33-year-old utility player, who is capable of playing all over the infield, earned his very first spot on the American League All-Star roster last year with the Baltimore Orioles. He hit .248 with 22 homers and 76 RBI on the season.
A day after the Arizona Diamondbacks acquired right-handed relievers David Hernandez and Kam Mickolio from the Baltimore Orioles for third baseman Mark Reynolds, J.J. Putz signed on with the team for two years and $10 million.
The 33-year-old closer went 7-5 with three saves and a 2.83 ERA in 60 games with the Chicago White Sox last season, striking out 65 batters over 54 innings.
Meanwhile, desperate times call for desperate measures. The Pittsburgh Pirates, owners of the worst starting pitching in all of baseball last season, came to terms with Kevin Correia on a two-year, $8 million deal.
While Pirates starters had a combined 5.28 ERA in 2010, the 30-year-old Correia was 10-10 with a 5.40 ERA over 26 starts with the San Diego Padres.
The Bucs also have a one-year deal with Scott Olsen in place, hanging on a physical. Over the past two seasons with the Washington Nationals, the lefty went 6-12 before being banished from it's 40-man roster in early November.

I'm so sick of the Pirates SUCKING.
I know the Pirates suck but I'm excited that they are actually making a little noise at the meetings. The only deal I don't agree with is Olsen. He had a run in with Police in Florida after he ran from them and end up kicking and pucnhing police before they tazed him.
