When Paul Konerko heard the news of Adam Dunn's signing with his Chicago White Sox, he thought:
Okay. Well, that was a fun 12 years. It's a him-or-me situation. In fact, it almost ruined his vacation in Mexico.
However, the team calmed their captain's nerves by handing him a $37.5 million, three-year contract. The 34-year-old All-Star first baseman was fifth in American League MVP voting in 2010 after hitting .312 with 39 homers and 111 RBI.
Aside from the big deal of helping the White Sox win the 2005 World Series, he ranks second only to Frank Thomas in team history with 358 career home runs, 1,127 RBI and 701 extra-base hits.
After finishing second to the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central at 88-74 last season, the Sox added the big bat of Dunn and decided to stick with A.J. Pierzynski as their catcher for at least the next two seasons.

As a Sox fan, I was honestly worried they weren't going to be able to afford Paulie after signing Dunn. Glad they figured out a way! It makes me happy knowing they're serious about contending.
