Our undying love for Cliff Lee was cemented last night with his brilliant eight-inning, two-hit, thirteen strikeout performance during the Texas Rangers' 8-0 win over the New York Yankees All-Star lineup in Game 3 of the ALCS.
Josh Hamilton, who had a pretty good view of the clinic from centerfield, smoked a two-run shot in the first, which was all the run support the Rangers needed. However, they kicked down the door in the top of the ninth with six more runs off a befuddled Yankees bullpen.
Lee, who is now 7-0 with an incredible 1.29 postseason ERA (yes, that's the best mark ever) retired the first eleven and final nine batters he faced. He wasn't so shabby in between either. In fact, the lefty didn't allow a hit until some Yankees fan noticed and blurted out the word "no-hitter" before Jorge Posada slapped a single to right with two out in the fifth inning.
Lee impressed us Monday night just as much as Roy Halladay's no hitter against the Cincinnati Reds and Tim Lincecum's 14-strikeout complete game against the Atlanta Braves, purely because he shut down one of the best-hitting teams in baseball.
Plus, he made history, becoming the first pitcher ever to fan 10 or more batters three times in a single postseason. Wow.
We love you, Clifton.

That was the sexiest pitching performance I've ever witnessed. Sadly, the folks in the Bronx didn't take too kindly to my boyfriend and I in our Rangers jerseys!!
What a stud. It's been a while since the Yankees have looked that foolish at the plate!
He is so freaking amazing. Cant wait to see him play again.
