The two-time defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies are at the brink of elimination while the San Francisco Giants are just one victory away from reaching the World Series for the first time in eight years.
Juan Uribe and his achy left wrist was the big hero Wednesday night, nailing a walkoff sacrifice fly to give the Giants a 6-5 win over the Phillies for a 3-1 lead in the NLCS.
The game-winner came at the end of a dangerous battle with Roy Oswalt, who did everything but bean bean Uribe to brush him off the plate.
Rookie Buster Posey had yet another big night for the Giants, nailing four hits with two RBI. Meanwhile, Pablo Sandoval came through big time with a go-ahead double in the sixth. Finally.
Big league saves leader and last night's game winner Brian Wilson had this to say about the excitement:
I got butterflies. I got anxiety. I got a mini-ulcer developing, but it’s all worth it. We never lost focus.Funny story: after Cole Hamels joshed about hitting playoff hero Cody Ross to slow the monster down a bit, Joe Blanton nailed him to kick off the second inning. However, the Phillies starter threw two wild pitches the inning before, so it wasn't on purpose.
Game 5 will boast two of the best arms in baseball tonight in a rematch of Game 1 starters at AT&T Park with Roy Halladay on the mound versus Tim Lincecum at 7:30pm ET. This is anyone's game.

You can have your Roys. We'll keep our ROY. Hopefully we can get it done tonight, in front of the fans who so achingly deserve it.
