It's been two whole years since we've seen the ever-loving New York Yankees in a There's Always Next Year post.
Maybe the Spring Training cap general manager Brian Cashman was sporting during postgame interviews in the visitor's clubhouse will make Yankees fans feel better about going home after their Game 6 loss to the AL Champion Texas Rangers.
Probably not.
Will free agency-eligible stars Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte wear pinstripes next season? If so, will they play for Joe Girardi, whose deal is also up? Will they pursue Cliff Lee? Outfielder Nick Swisher has some encouraging words for the Bronx Bombers faithful:
Sometimes you run into a buzzsaw. It’s been an uphill battle the entire series. But sometimes you’ve got to pull off some tough wins. We couldn’t get that done. That nasty feeling we have in our stomachs right now, that’s definitely going to help us this offseason. And now for the photo eulogy...

WOOOOT! Cliff Lee vs. Tim Lincecum or Roy Halladay???
This is where my allegience gets cloudy. Since I'm not an actual fan of any of the teams left, all I have are favorite players. It's impossible to choose who I'd like to see win it all!
It is always a happy day when the Yankees lose. Since I'm from DC I can't root for the Rangers in the Series, though I think they will probably win.
Always good to see the Yankees lose, especially when the arrogant, cheating scumbag A-Rod takes the called third strike to end their season. I can't really root for the Rangers since I am from DC, but I think they will probably win. Go Giants!
