Johan Santana Cheated on His Wife

I am not impressed with New York Mets pitcher Johan Santana. At all. Not to generalize, but seriously, when will (a lot of) male athletes start to show some respect for their marriages?

Here's a snippet of the exclusive from TMZ...
TMZ has learned New York Mets star pitcher Johan Santana was accused in a police report of sexual battery that allegedly went down on a Florida golf course ... but the case went nowhere...

Law enforcement sources say DNA evidence did prove there was intercourse, but, according to a Sheriff's document, the prosecutor concluded, "There was not enough evidence to prove lack of consent, the alleged victim's statement is not consistent with other witnesses." The case was closed out on December 8, 2009.
I am so grossed out right now. In fact, I hope his wife Yasmile, was sleeping with the pool boy. Your thoughts?

I get a little sick of hearing this stuff too. It never would have happened if he were still a member of the always upstanding and respectful Minnesota Twins.

I agree with RFS. Clearly his vagabond shoes were longing to stray.

I don't agree that it wouldn't have happened if he was still with the Twins. This happened in the off-season, remember?

Having said that, I have lost a lot of respect for Santana. I mean A LOT of respect. I liked him when he was with the Twins, and I still liked him when he went to the Mets. However, this egregious act of infidelity has really tarnished his reputation. He betrayed his vows, his family, and his fans. He should know that by signing that contract and putting on that uniform, he is an ambassador for the Mets, New York City, and MLB, and a de facto role model.

Do I think he committed a crime? I'm not so sure. What I am sure of is that he did something incredibly stupid.

The only thing bothering me about all of this is why it's bring brought up now? Why not when it happened nine months ago?

On a final note, I hope Pornvano utterly humiliates Johan and the Mets this Saturday in NYC!

I posted a pic of him as a Twin to remind us all of a simpler time...

Update on the story, as Santana himself has issued a statement:

He maintains that what happened was 100% consensual between both of them. However, it's still possible that she could file a civil suit, which could be why this story is being brought up now.

It's brought up now because she didn't get pregnant, so now she wants to cry rape.
If it was an assault, I doubt she would have hung out with him willingly after the fact.

I am a little surprised by this - my friends and I ran into Johan in Fort Meyers during Spring Training a few years back (while he was still a lowly reliever!) and though he continued to buy us adult beverages all night because I knew who he was, he was a perfect gentleman and didn't try to pull any of this crap - and my friends are HOT. And it's not like my friends and I didn't get our flirt on big time. I guess good looks, talent, fame and fortune, and life on the road eventually does go to one's head. Or pants. Whatever. I'm mad at you, Johan.

I hope he's distracted today against his old team the TWINS!

very disappointing - was previously a HUGE fan. The media refuses to make a big deal about the infidelity only the rape charges

At first I was really sad to hear this, because I have been a huge Johan fan for years and always thought of him as one of the true gentlemen in baseball.

Then I just got MAD. Not even at him specifically, but at the fact that we have to keep hearing about stuff like this. Why is it so hard for people to stay GOOD once they've become rich and famous? Is it really that difficult to say "No, I'm married, I won't do that"? Get divorced if you honestly can't keep it in your pants. And that's not even addressing the alleged rape aspect. Just...YUCK. I feel so bad for his wife and kids.

It sure felt good to beat him up today on the ballfield.
