Remember Marky Mark?

Remember when Mark Mulder was awesome?

The St. Louis Cardinals lefty returned to the mound Monday night, not to start (Lohse dominated that position) but to finish. And after two shoulder surgeries, maybe he's just lucky to be back on the hill.

Mulder, 30, made his first career relief appearance, doubling as his season debut against the New York Mets, serving up a scoreless ninth in his team's 7-1 victory. He allowed two hits before getting Jose Reyes to fly out to end the game. Welcome back, buddy!

The Cardinals are hanging in there! It's great to see Mulder back. I think he'll make a great reliever if that's where he ends up.

Two Cards posts in a row! Good morning indeed.

The new arm angle seems to suit him, so far. His curve looked better than it has since he was in Oakland, and he topped out at 92 with his fastball. Tony will steadily work him into "pressure" situations so as to build both his stamina and confidence. Whether we see him in the rotation depends on his progress, I wager.
