The 59% of you who voted Manny Ramirez as the first player to reach their respective milestone in a recent poll of ours, congratulations.
Congrats also goes out to Manny, who accomplished a feat that only 23 others have, smoking career homer #500 on the first pitch he saw from former teammate Chad Bradford in the seventh inning, sending it sailing into the right-center field seats.
As a bonus, it gave the Red Sox a 5-3 lead over the Baltimore Orioles.

I'm not sure that Manny knew that this was his 500th homer. Doesn't he celebrate like this after every one?
I only voted Manny cause Chipper was out that day with a sore ass or something, and its gonna take Griffey another month to hit 600. Nevertheless, Way to go, Manny!
I'm so thrilled for Manny. Now the Sox just need to sign him for two more years so his number can eventually be retired at Fenway
I think the Red Sox have team options for the next two years, at 20M per year. Not a bad deal considering what Andruw Jones or Torii Hunter make. Plus, Manny provides about 100X more random entertainment value than those bums.
I was at the game in Baltimore when he hit it. I booed and when he rounded third I yelled at him and called him Whoopi Goldberg and a fat lazy loser. Was I wrong in doing that?

I don't know, anon. I told him not to let his extensions fall out on the way back to the dugout when I was at Comerica, and he grounded out. Although, I believe he went 4 for 5 that day, with a solo hom run.
You gotta love the guy....
