The Washington Nationals will kick off Opening Night in their spankin' new stadium Sunday evening against the Atlanta Braves.
President Bush will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the first regular season game played at the 41,000-seat Nationals Park, which is expected to be a hitter's park. That means no more excuses about trouble hitting homers, like at RFK, fellas.

Left-hander Odalis Perez got the nod for the Opener while Tim Hudson takes the mound for the Braves at 8:05pm ET.

Yay!
It's quite chilly and damp here in the mid-Atlantic region, otherwise known as ACC Country(it's 37 degrees as I type this). Should be a fun time in the new park tonight. And oh yeah, we get to hear Joe Morgan remind everyone how great he was. Yup, baseball season is here...
A small fanbase? that's a low blow. Can't blame fans for avoiding RFK. The new stadium will draw attendance, but as Bruce said it's too freaking cold tonight.
baseball makes me happy. it almost makes me think we're not going to have snow in the next day or whatever.
also, beers. where/when in the plaza, woman?
YES! I will hit up your Myspace momentarily.
I really like the fact that it's the first "green" stadium...hopefully others will take notice and follow suit. There's no reason in the world why they can't have recycling containers for trash at the games...ok...back to my beer (which will soon be recycled and replaced by another) and the Nats game...
There may have been more boos than cheers for the Prez this evening...
i misread your comment, megs. i thought you said perez, and i was all, wait. odalis is doing gre...oh.
also, gag, make him go away. i don't want to have nightmares about baseball. listening to kornheiser during football season is bad enough.
God it's great to hear Joe Morgan talk nonsense again. I think we have found the trifecta of idiocy with G.W. joining them tonight. I missed baseball.
