Josh Beckett tossed six solid innings of fabulous, four-hit baseball to out-pitch and outshine his opponent, C.C. Sabathia on Friday night in the ALCS opener, striking out seven and walking none.The Cleveland Indians ace didn't bring his best stuff to the mound, lasting just 4.1 innings after surrendering 8 runs on 7 hits with five walks and three K's. Schweet.
Beckett had a little help from the Boston Red Sox bats as Manny Ramirez and Big Papi reached base all ten times they came to the plate, leading the Red Sox to a 10-3 victory.
Mike Lowell contributed 3 RBIs, Jason Varitek brought home two and Bobby Kielty -- Game One's secret weapon -- drove in two runs on a single in the fifth.
Asdrubal Cabrera accounted for two of Cleveland's runs and Travis Hafner hit a solo shot for the other.
Game 2 is set for Saturday night at Fenway Park at 8pm ET with Tribe phenom Fausto Carmona taking the hill against everyone's favorite blowhard, Boston veteran Curt Schilling.
