Andy Phillips Out with an Injured Wrist

New York Yankees first baseman Andy Phillips wasn't in the lineup once again Monday and could be looking at more time on the bench due to a wrist injury.

Phillips was nailed by a Jason Hammel pitch during New York's 8-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Sunday, and is listed as day-to-day with a bruised right wrist.

Tests revealed a fracture, so he's sporting a splint and is scheduled to see a hand specialist. The 30-year-old Phillips, who is batting .292 with two homers and 25 RBIs this season, described the pain as feeling like somebody "hit him with a hammer."

Controversial slugger Jason Giambi replaced him at first today.
