With just three games left to play in his major league career, Biggio is going back to his roots and will start at catcher on Saturday for the Astros- the first time he will have strapped on catcher's gear since 1991.
Originally slated to catch Roy Oswalt on Friday, Biggio will instead start at catcher for Brandon Backe on Saturday since Oswalt has scratched from that scheduled start. Biggio caught a bullpen session for Backe earlier today to prepare for his reappearance behind the plate.
"I don't want to go back there and embarrass myself," Biggio said.Biggio is expected to catch for at least one inning, and possibly two, before returning to his normal position at second base.
So, he's gotten his 3000th hit. He's going to play catcher one more time. The only milestone left for him is that HBP record. Come on, pitchers of the National League- plunk Biggio three times! I know you can do it!
